I got my mission call today, and it turns out I'm going to Georgia Atlanta North Mission! I report on September 19th. Sooooooo, the ones who got the mission report date right are...
Corey Smith
Keisha Hansen
Alejandra Ocampo-Hironymous
Rachel Weaver
Congrats Guys!!! And the closest guess...
Nathan Hironymous with North Carolina!
All the Illinois guesses were close, but Nate won. And your prize...
Knowing you won :)
I know, lame. Sorry
I should be posting more about my mission in the next couple weeks, but I'm moving down to Arizona next week, so you might have to wait until after that.
Atlanta has one of the most beautiful skylines I've ever seen. The food is also AMAZING! I'm a big fan of down home cookin' and soul food, if you get the chance, and especially if a sweet grandma lady offers to cook for you, GO FOR IT! Sweet tea is an understatement and grits are GREAT! Seriously, if someone offers you grits, you gotta try them or their feelings might get hurt.
ReplyDeleteOh! And WaHo = Waffle House. They're everywhere down there and awesome, too. And every other street in Atlanta is Peach Tree. No joke. Check out a map. It's crazy.
I hope you have a great experience and get to learn about true Southern hospitality while you're there. Is anyone going to maintain a mission letter blog update for you? I sure hope so. :)
I'm planning on my mom taking this over and at least posting some kind of update.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear something about Georgia! I don't even know what the weather is like there! I will definitely have to get used to grits...not a huge fan of the texture.
Thanks for commenting. I was wondering who else had started following my blog :)
Good to hear someone will be keeping your fans informed of your journeys. :)
ReplyDeleteMike and I used to take a yearly trip to Atlanta for a few years. We haven't been in a long while now, unfortunately. Do you know if you're going to be in the metro area or suburbs or anything?
The weather is going to be a bit different, a lot more humid than you're used to here, but the temps will be a little milder. It'll get a bit colder, perhaps, in the winter but not as hot in the summer. I think most of your AZ weather-prep sensibilities should work for you. Be prepared for rain, though. :D
You'll be in for a little bit of culture shock, but giving kindness and understanding openly is ever a good way to get it back in return and you're such a lovely person that I'm sure you'll do well.
